Why “School of Fitness”?
How important do you think your health, vitality and longevity is? Is it something you strive to improve? Does it seem like something that is acquired easily?
Very. Yes. No. These are pretty straight forward questions, but the answers aren’t super easy to answer, likely because we don’t like the answers to them. As we’re responsible with introducing and instructing people on how and why to move, we approach this task as professionals. We’ve experienced the necessary development of approaching training much like you would learning a new sport or instrument. And we want to help you play guitar with style or hold your own in a masters tennis tournament now AND when you’re well into your 80’s.
At our school you will learn how to move, why it’s important, and numerous different ways to apply those movements. You’ll learn how to take care of your body, improving your stable range of motion, as well as the best ways to fuel your body. These aren’t easy tasks to tackle – but, we’re very proud to say, you’re in great hands at our school.
Adam Ball – Owner, Doctor of Chiropractic
I’ve been educating people on their health, performance and longevity for over 5 years now, and have helped everyone from Grandmas to Elite athletes. Movement is an integral part of remaining healthy, happy individuals, and while many believe it’s simply for those trying to, “stay in shape”, it will help improve the health of anyone willing to take it up. it doesn’t matter if your goal is to make it to the NHL, or if it is to being able to go for a walk on your own, we’re all headed the same direction on the same road – And it helps to know the way. That’s why people like me exist.
Kristin Green – Co-Owner, Physiotherapist
I’ve been a practicing Physiotherapist for over 6 years and have been involved with various sports since I was old enough to play! CrossFit has provided me with opportunities to push myself and be in the best shape of my life. I am doing things now that I never thought I would or could do! I love passing that on to my students and seeing the look on their faces when they accomplish a new skill or achieve a new goal!
Eric Pichette – Coach, Firefighter
I’ve been involved in numerous sports over the years including hockey, wake surfing, Firefighter Combat challenge, paddling and whitewater kayaking. The main reason I choose to train at the School of Fitness is simple: it helps me to perform my job properly and it gives me the fitness base to play and learn new sports as I age. I love helping members achieve their fitness/health goals by teaching them safe and proper lifting techniques as well as strategies to develop our members’ skills for their lives in AND out of the gym.
Lisa Knauz – Coach, Gym Manager
I have been training with Adam since he opened in Sudbury, back in 2011. I started originally with the goal of finding a training program that was a little more exciting than the typical fare offered at the “Globo Gyms”. I was hooked pretty quickly, loving the physical and mental tests we overcome. I have always included Yoga as part of my training regimen and continue to do so – if you have any questions about it, let me know and I’ll steer you in the right direction. Providing the right coaching at the right time and we’ll improve your health, fitness and happiness!
Mandie Duguay – Coach, Teacher
I’ve been training with Adam since the VERY beginning and have personally seen how this program can make someone strong, healthy and happy. Learning how to pass those benefits on to my students has been a very rewarding experience. In addition to being a Teacher in Sudbury, I have completed extra training in order to offer Kids classes at our School of Fitness. Getting kids moving properly in their early years will help insulate them from injury, AND improve their performance in sport AND school. And all that happens while they’re building healthy habits around physical activity that they’ll have for a lifetime.
Tara Thall – Coach, Teacher
I have been involved in sport in a variety of capacities my entire life. My journey in sport began when I started competitive swimming as a child. My swimming career continued into University while I studied physical and health education. While in school, I discovered a passion for coaching children, which eventually led me to teacher’s college. Since then, I became a mom and discovered a love for CrossFit. CrossFit encompasses everything I have always believed someone needs to live a healthy and active lifestyle. It gives me the energy and stamina that I need to keep up with my 7 year old and new born! I am so thrilled to be part of our amazing and very knowledgeable coaching community. I love learning and am constantly finding ways I can be a better coach! I enjoy helping and inspiring the members of our fitness family to achieve their goals and to be the best athletes they can be!
We believe that training is a valuable skill that takes time and coaching to develop. That being said, improving skill levels, fitness levels and work capacity isn’t reserved for athletes, it’s for everyone.
